Swan Song

Hi faithful readers, if there are any of you left…

The time has come to say goodbye to Write Girl, Wrong Place. This probably isn’t much of a surprise seeing as my posting has been severely lacking for the last several months. What started out as an anonymous way for me to express myself has gotten over crowded with real people from my life and the urge to censor myself has left me feeling stifled and bored.

It was nice knowing you, and I love all of the people I’ve met through blogging, but this is the end.

Thanks for reading,

Tobie

P.S. I may start a new one somewhere else so if you blog-friends would like to visit when/if I decide just drop me line and I’ll make sure you  get a link. Real friends and family, sorry but a girl’s gotta have some secrets…

S is for…

Thanks Cathy for letting me play too!

Here now is a list of ten things that I love, that all start with the letter S.

  1. Sephora – I’ve only recently been able to resist buying something when I walk into this store.
  2. San Francisco – one of my top three favorite places in California the other two being Disneyland and my parent’s house.
  3. San Luis Obispo, CA – where I went to college and met lifelong friends and spent many a Friday and Saturday night walking up and down Higuera St. hopping from bar to bar with the above mentioned friends.
  4. Sister or Sally – my mom’s pet names for me. Lately my brother has taken to calling me Sister as well, especially when he wants something.
  5. Stoli* Vodka – I rarely drink but when I do I stick to the clear stuff.
  6. Starbucks – an expensive habit that I’ve managed to almost kick. The Espresso Truffle is my favorite, but I never get it as it’s very rich and more expensive than the regular drinks.
  7. Shopping – I love to do it when I have the extra money, which I almost never have anymore because I got very good at doing on credit. The good news I’m half out of the hole I dug myself! Another year of scrimping and I’ll be (credit card) debt free.
  8. Sunday – my favorite day of the week. Church usually followed by lunch with friends and then back home to relax and get ready for the week.
  9. Scripture – I’ve been going to BSF for seven months now and have learned so much about the Bible and God. There is still so much more to learn, I can’t wait!
  10. The Sound of Music – I must have seen it close to 100 times, but I love it. I even own the song book and used to sit around the apartment with GrumpyBear and we’d sing the songs together while watching the movie.

* I actually prefer Ketel One but it doesn’t start with an S.

Disasters everywhere.

Fires, floods, earthquakes…

What is going on?

I don’t usually buy into doomsday prophecies, but even I have to admit, there is a lot of crazy stuff going on in the world lately.

Join me in praying (or whatever you do) for all of the people whose lives have been disrupted/destroyed by these natural disasters.

It is only by the grace of God that I am where I am. I’m thankful beyond words.

A one-sided conversation with myself.

Hello.

How are you?

Me? Oh, I’m fine. A little warm, but enjoying the weather for now.

No, I’m not really doing anything exciting. Just watching the clock, per usual. I can’t believe it is already Thursday. Weekend, here I come!

Plans? Not really. I’ve got to check on GrumpyBear’s dogs a couple of times this weekend. Yeah, it’s kind of far, but she’d do it for me. If I begged her, promised her my first born child, and bought her dinner and blackmailed her a little bit.

I want to know when I get to use the “I have a husband and a baby now, Tobie!” in a self-righteous tone of voice whenever I don’t want to do something. Sorry, GrumpyBear (if you read this) but it gets old.

You’re right, things change when people get married and things really change when they have kids. I’m still adjusting to the new order of things. If the babies weren’t so freakin’ cute the adjustment would be a lot harder.

Jealous? Absolutely. I’m completely envious of my friends who have families. Yes, I have my parents and brother, but I don’t have my one and only and it really sucks sometimes. OK, a lot of the times.

Just call me Debbie Downer today. I’ll be back to my old self tomorrow.

I am very busy!

This homeowner stuff is hard work. For the last week, I’ve been going straight from work to the house and spending at least three hours there painting cabinets, peeling up moldy old limoleum and watching as my parents install the laminate flooring.

Check out my Flickr if you want proof.

We’re taking the night off tonight, but will finish up the laminate tomorrow so our friend can install the bedroom carpet and hopefully (keep those fingers crossed) I’ll be moving in my stuff on Sunday!

P.S. Painting cabinets sucks big fat donkey-balls.

Babies, they’re everywhere!

At the grocery store tonight I ran into one of my brother’s high school classmates, we worked together teaching summer school a few years back and I see her every now and then. She’s due to have a baby in about a month. She’s the eighth person I know who is now pregnant or recently had a baby. I’m starting to freak out a little.

Monkey came to visit me this weekend and to attend Grumpy Bear’s baby shower. She also knows several people having babies. It’s an epidemic I tell you! One I want no part of.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m totally looking forward to all of the new little rugrats I’ll get to spoil  and play with, but I have changed only one diaper in all of my 30 years and I’d like to keep it that way as long as I can. Though I’ve been thinking about maybe getting Buster a playmate once we’ve moved into our new place. A puppy I could handle. Maybe.

You suck, SBC!

I missed my last day of NaBloPoMo. I can’t believe it.

I couldn’t blog at work today because I was out of the office almost all day and the couple of hours I was at my desk, I was busy with the usual Friday tasks.

I had the Body Shop party after work and didn’t get home until after nine. Then I had to input all of my orders so that my customers could get their discount. The promotion ended at midnight and I had a lot of math ahead of me. Luckily, I was able to get it all into the system and processed before my internet decided to stop working.  I kid you not, I got up to get a glass of water after hitting the “submit order” button and when I got back, the internet was gone. That was around 11:00 p.m.

I wasn’t really worried my internet connection can be fussy, but it’s never down for long. Of course, tonight of all nights it didn’t come back on until just a few minutes ago. I couldn’t even hijack a neighbor’s connection like I usually do. He finally put a password on his connection, it only took 6 months.

On a side note, I’m finally one of the cool kids! I made a submission to Indie Bloggers, and I got picked! That first link will only be good until Monday, then the next submission will take it’s place so go check it out then come back and tell me how awesome I am!
